The Opportunity: We are offering opportunities to earn and learn through Audit Wales’s Association of Accounting Technician (AAT) Higher Apprenticeship Programme.
The opportunities are either a 2-year fixed term programme for those with AAT level 2 OR a 3-year fixed term programme for those with A level qualifications only.
Please note, individuals who already hold a degree are NOT eligible to apply.
We will support you to complete professional training to complete AAT from level 2 (or 3 if already qualified at level 2) through to level 4.
You will play a part in the audit of over 800 public bodies across Wales, ensuring the work you do makes a real difference to the citizens of Wales. Our clients include Welsh Government, NHS Wales, local government and many more.
We are keen to support and coach you through our apprenticeship programme which provides a possible pathway to our graduate scheme.
Key responsibilities:
- To attend and complete the AAT qualification
- Conduct audit work across a range of account areas or grant expenditure, ensuring a planned approach to work with support from a Financial Audit Lead or other appropriate supervisor
- Receive support in identifying findings from the fieldwork and develop meaningful recommendations which are based on evidence
- Submit well organised and well written documentation for review.

Essential Requirements:
- A strong interest in auditing and public sector work
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Good attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Minimum educational qualifications of 3 A Levels Grade C or above, plus a B at maths GCSE
- Demonstrates learning and application of learning into your day-to-day work
- Good IT skills, with the ability to learn new IT skills
- Excellent team working skills, showing enthusiasm and actively participating in the team
- Sound questioning and listening skills
