Aneurin Bevan Health Board Pay Modernisation Report 2011

The NHS consultant contract is the national framework that governs the working conditions and salary grades of consultants. The Amendment to the National Consultant Contract in Wales came into effect on 1 December 2003, and was the first major change to consultants‟ terms and conditions since 1948. The contract brought in a number of benefits for consultants: a new salary scale; improved arrangements for on-call remuneration; new arrangements for clinical commitment and clinical excellence awards; and a commitment to improve flexible working.

Automatic computer power management - South Wales Police

South Wales Police installed software to automatically power down its computers after a specified period of inactivity. This initiative ensured that energy saving was achieved by reducing consumption. Computers turn to a 'low power state', and hence use less energy.

Greener Server Rooms - Gwynedd County Council

Gwynedd County Council has been aiming to reduce electricity consumption and Ioweing its carbon footprint. Its server room was at the end of its effective life and was not capable of supporting this commitment to energy efficiency. In addition, the Council had concerns about the risk of flooding as the server room was located in the basement ofthe building.

The Council's Energy team has launched a web-enabled heating control project in 70 schools to reduce energy usage and increase energy efficiency. This practice has proven to be highly effective.

Solar Photovoltaic Panels - Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough...

The County Council installed 15 solar photovoltaic panel arrays throughout its buildings so as to bring renewable energy to the wider public. The arrays were installed in schools and libraries and each installation has a monitor located in the reception area, showing the current output and total output to date.

T5 Retrofit Lighting - South Wales Police

South Wales Police has replaced existing T8 lighting in its Main HQ Building with more energy efficient T5 lighting. T5 retrofit lighting is a cost effective method of replacing T8 and T12 lighting. T8 and T12 lighting is, on average, 52 per cent more expensive to run that the T5 equivalent.
