This report is about how Welsh public bodies are thinking and acting for the long term. Specifically, it is about how public bodies are doing what the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 (the Act) requires them to do.
Our report looks at how public bodies covered by the Act have been implementing it over the last five years.
It summarises findings from work across housing, health and social care, and the climate and nature emergency, as well as functions that are critical to a well-run organisation.
This is a landmark report, given that the Act is now 10 years old. The pressure on public services and the public finances has grown in that time. Our report sets out areas where public bodies need to improve, with a particular focus on preventative public services. It also sets out some areas where government could take action to accelerate progress.
The report should be read alongside the Future Generations Commissioner’s report, which is published at the same time.
