The Public Audit (Wales) Act 2013 requires the Auditor General for Wales to issue a Code of Audit Practice prescribing the way in which certain functions of the Auditor General are to be exercised.
The Code is important because it sets out the manner in which public sector audit is undertaken in Wales, including by being the mechanism by which compliance with international auditing standards is required.
This Code replaces the 2020 Code and comes into effect on the date of its publication, 9 July 2026.
