  • This report sets out the findings from phase two of the Auditor General’s 2021 structured assessment work at Powys Teaching Health Board.

Overall, we found the Health Board has generally effective Board and committee arrangements, however capacity gaps within the corporate governance team and the turnover of independent members are of concern. Plans have been developed for responding to COVID-19 and transformation of healthcare services.

The Health Board will need continue to utilise its good partnership working arrangements to ensure that Powys residents are appropriately prioritised by commissioned services. Financial resources are managed well, however, delivering the required financial savings will be challenging.
