  • The key focus of our review has been on whether the Health Board’s approach to workforce planning is helping it to effectively address current and future NHS workforce challenges.

Overall, we found that the Health Board is sufficiently focused on its significant workforce challenges. Its recently commissioned work on strategic workforce planning has increased overall understanding of current data shortfalls. Whilst starting from a low baseline, this presents an opportunity to both address data needs and support longer-term workforce transformation.

The Health Board needs to finalise its People Plan and consolidated workforce implementation plans, deliver them and measure overall impact across the short to medium term.
