NHS GP registrations

  • What we're doing

As part of our wider fraud analytics work, we have been undertaking a pilot exercise matching non-medical record details of patients permanently registered on GP practice lists with other data sets with the objective of identifying anomalies.

    Why we're doing it

GP practices receive funding from NHS Wales based on their practice lists. Any inflation of practice lists, for example due to them including persons who have deceased or because of duplicate registrations within or between practices, could be an indicator of potential fraud.
