About the role

Audit Wales is looking to recruit at least two Senior Auditors to join our Performance Audit team, that covers National Studies, Health and Local Government sectors.

You don’t have to have an audit background as this is not a financial audit or accountancy role. In fact, we recruit people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

We are looking for someone with a curious mind and the ability to analyse a range of different information to assess performance. This role is all about understanding how services and corporate arrangements work and how they could be improved.

Working with the Performance Audit Team

This role is based within our Performance Audit Group where you will be assigned to a specific small team of well-motivated and like-minded people. The teams can be small comprising an audit manager, performance audit lead and senior auditors, so team working skills are important. 

A typical day will see you delivering a range of audit activities under instruction from either the audit manager or performance audit lead; this could include planning for an audit project with colleagues, undertaking fieldwork either reading/analysing documents, interviewing, running focus groups, analysing data or writing a report. We are a highly flexible organisation, so you may be working from one of our 3 offices, working from home or out at an audited body. You will be part of a small team delivering work that makes a real impact and difference in public services in Wales.

In addition, Audit Wales has excellent connections with other audit offices including, England, Scotland and even Canada, Australia and New Zealand which may also offer opportunities for further networking and learning and development.
