We welcome Assembly’s nominee for the role
We welcome the announcement that Adrian Crompton has been chosen as the preferred candidate to become the new Auditor General for Wales.
The appointment is still subject to formal nomination by the Assembly’s Finance Committee, Assembly Members and final approval by Her Majesty the Queen.
Adrian will replace the current Auditor General, Huw Vaughan Thomas when he retires in July 2018.
Adrian Crompton currently works as Director of Assembly Business and the National Assembly for Wales.
Chair of the Wales Audit Office Board, Isobel Garner, said:
“The position of Auditor General for Wales is one of the most important ones in Welsh public life and we look forward to welcoming Adrian to the post, once the formal appointment process is complete. The Board, and staff at the Wales Audit Office will continue to support the office of Auditor General, through this transition period, to scrutinise public spending and support and challenge the public sector in the delivery of effective services for the people of Wales.”
