About this job

Description

Who are Audit Wales?

Audit Wales is the independent public sector audit body within Wales. We hold a unique position within the Welsh public sector, where our role is to:

  • Assure the people of Wales that public money is being managed well through our annual audit of public sector accounts.
  • Explain how public money is being used and how it meets people’s needs through our Value for Money studies.
  • Inspire and empower those with whom we work to continuously improve by sharing initiatives and best practice.

On behalf of the people of Wales, we examine public spending and identify ways to improve public services. Our work supports the effective scrutiny of public money by the Senedd and locally elected representatives, and we are entirely independent of government.

We’re an organisation that has reach across Wales’s entire public sector, auditing public spending of over £27 billion annually across more than 800 different organisations from the Welsh Government itself to the smallest community council.

 About the role

We are looking to recruit an Independent Member for our Audit & Risk Assurance Committee.

This is a time limited appointment of up to three years which may be renewable, subject to satisfactory performance, for a second and final term. Performance of Committee members is appraised annually by the Chair.

The Committee’s business will normally be conducted at four meetings during the year, normally in February, June, September and December. Additional meetings may be convened as business demands.

Meetings can be held virtually or in person, usually at one of our offices (currently in Cardiff, Swansea and Llandudno Junction).

We’re Proud to be Accredited – Our excellent family friendly benefits and culture mean we are a proud Top Ten Working Families employer and have achieved Living Wage accreditation.
